Snake River-Jackson Hole

It is time to fish on the Snake River in Jackson Hole. The Snake is in great shape, it is clear and is at a great level. Flows are perfect for our Snake River Cutthroat trout. The beautiful thing about the Snake is the dry fly fishing. No need to go subsurface if you know the right dries to fish. Our Cutthroat are very opportunistic feeders and love seeing a big meal float over their domain. Large attractors in sizes 8- 10 such as the Winged Chernobyl, Turk’s Turantula, Foam PMX, Bugmeister and Stimulators all work well. We also like trailing a smaller mayfly or caddis pattern behind these larger point flies. Of course, the Parachute Adams and Elk Hair Caddis work well, but a variety of more specific patterns such as the Cripple PMD, Hi-Vis Rusty Spinner, Hi-Viz Caddis and the Tilt Wing dun patterns work very well on the larger, more selective fish, you just have to get a great drift in the right water.

No excuses on the Snake right now, fishing is good and even getting better every day. From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. or so is the best window, but later in the day can be quite productive as well. All the stretches are fishing well, so pick a spot, come get some bugs and hit the river, it is time!
